Position & Perks

The General Repair Technician will perform a wide variety of repair and construction maintenance tasks, such as furniture repairs, installing new doors, patch cracks, painting, repairing trim, as well as project work related to restaurant remodels The role requires someone with good people skills and a well-rounded "fix-it" knowledge base.

 

The work schedule for this position is 6am to 2pm, with some flexibility for remodels.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs needed such as repairing trim, installing doors, repairing fences, patch drywall cracks, painting, etc.
  • Carry out carpentry work by fixing furniture
  • Television installations when needed
  • Schedule different phases of projects based on established deadlines and vendors
  • Confer with supervisors or other managers to monitor construction progress, including worker productivity and compliance with building and safety codes to mitigate risk
  • May requisition supplies and materials to complete project
  • Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques
  • Resolve problems that arise due to inclement weather, emergencies or other issues that may cause delays
  • Provide support to Senior Project Manager by giving updates on project timelines as tasks are completed, and inform them of issues or concerns when appropriate
  • Build and maintain relationships with store Managers; communicate with store Managers to schedule visits and follow up with Managers after repairs
  • Ensure the workplace site is mapped out properly so that all work can be performed safely and efficiently
  • Assist with other Construction department related functions as needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic math skills
  • Proficient with a computer and Microsoft Office
  • Proven working experience in carpentry and general repair
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in teams managing a team of workers and multiple projects
  • Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers etc.)
  • Thorough understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction
  • Dependable and strong work ethic
  • Basic math skills; able to calculate volume and measure materials to be cut
  • Must have own hand tools; Power and specialty tools will be supplied
  • Complete computer/administrative work accurately and efficiently
  • Competent in dealing with emergency situations
  • Able to multitask and manage time efficiently
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • High observation and good time management skills
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and execute daily tasks to meet deadlines
  • Ensures that vehicle is driven safely, and traffic laws are obeyed
